NOTICE OF UPCOMING JANUARY PROGRAM CHANGES: TWO PERFORMANCES RESCHEDULED DUE TO COVID-19

CONCERTS FEATURING ITZHAK PERLMAN AND THE MUSIC OF BOB DYLAN POSTPONED TO FUTURE DATES

Seattle, WA — Due to unavoidable delays and disruptions caused by COVID-19, the Seattle Symphony announces two performance changes for the month of January. “An Evening with Itzhak Perlman” and “The Times They Are A-Changin’: The Words and Music of Bob Dylan” will be rescheduled to occur later this season.

Itzhak Perlman has postponed his West Coast tour and moved it from January 2022 to April 2022. His performance with the Seattle Symphony will now be on Wednesday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m. “The Times They Are A Changin’: The Words and Music of Bob Dylan,” conducted by Steve Hackman, is postponed to Tuesday, June 21, at 7:30 p.m. Patrons who purchased tickets for the either concert do not need to take further action if they can attend the new date; new tickets will be sent via the original form of deliver. The Seattle Symphony has a flexible exchange and return policy in place through the end of the year.

The Seattle Symphony is requiring all visitors to provide proof of vaccination (or present a negative COVID-19 test) with photo ID and wear masks at all times while in Benaroya Hall. This is in addition to numerous safety measures implemented at Benaroya Hall, including a hospital-grade air filtration system, increased cleaning and contactless ticketing systems. For more information about ticket flexibility and how the Symphony is working to ensure a safe return to live music, please visit the Safety Page

ITZHAK PERLMAN | VIOLIN

Undeniably the reigning virtuoso of the violin, Itzhak Perlman enjoys superstar status rarely afforded a classical musician. Beloved for his charm and humanity as well as his talent, he is treasured by audiences throughout the world who respond not only to his remarkable artistry, but to his irrepressible joy for making music. Having performed with every major orchestra and at concert halls around the globe, Perlman was granted a Presidential Medal of Freedom — the Nation’s highest civilian honor — by President Obama in 2015, a Kennedy Center Honor in 2003, a National Medal of Arts by President Clinton in 2000 and a Medal of Liberty by President Reagan in 1986. Perlman has been honored with 16 Grammy awards, four Emmy awards, a Kennedy Center Honor, a Grammy, a Lifetime Achievement Award and a Genesis Prize.

STEVE HACKMAN | CONDUCTOR

Steve Hackman is leading the charge among a new generation of classical musicians redefining the genre. His breadth of musical fluency and technique is uncanny — he is at once a composer, conductor, producer, DJ, arranger, songwriter, singer and pianist. His creation of hybrid compositions (ranging from synthesizing Brahms and Radiohead to Bartók and Björk, to Mahler’s 2nd Symphony with the music of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G.) blur the lines between high and pop art, and have sold out concerts across the country. Hackman has served as Creative Director of the Indianapolis Symphony’s Stella Artois Happy Hour Series since the 2019/20 season, recorded a 70-piece orchestra of LA’s finest studio musicians for his original music project STEREO HIDEOUT in 2019, and that same year, he premiered The Times They Are A-Changin’, his 15-song choral re-imagination of Bob Dylan with the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh.
