THE SEATTLE SYMPHONY ANNOUNCES TWO NEW EXCLUSIVE POP CULTURE PERFORMANCES COMING TO BENAROYA HALL IN 2024

ENJOY CONCERTS FEATURING THE MUSIC FROM TWIN PEAKS AND BRUCE HORNSBY

Seattle, WA — Experience two unique Seattle Symphony popular culture concerts taking place at Benaroya Hall in 2024. On January 17, step into the mysterious town of Twin Peaks as actor Kyle MacLachlan and conductor Sarah Hicks present The Music of Twin Peaks and Angelo Badalamenti, featuring the Seattle Symphony. On April 21, iconic American singer-songwriter, pianist and Grammy Award winner Bruce Hornsby brings his breezy feel-good sound and new collaborative compositions with yMusic to the hall in Bruce Hornsby and yMusic present BrhyM.

Experience the eerie town of Twin Peaks through The Music of Twin Peaks program featuring the compositions of Angelo Badalamenti. The Seattle Symphony, under the baton of conductor Sarah Hicks, will bring Badalamenti’s iconic scores to life. The evening will be hosted by none other than Kyle MacLachlan, known to fans as Special Agent Dale Cooper, in this exclusive one-night-only event. Following the concert, Twin Peaks-inspired dream pop band, Wisteria Lodge, performs in the enchanting Samuel & Althea Stroum Grand Lobby.

Renowned singer-songwriter, former Grateful Dead member and 13-time Grammy nominee Bruce Hornsby is a much sought-after collaborator. He teams up with the New York-based chamber ensemble, yMusic, known for their work with artists like John Legend and Caroline Shaw. Established in 2008, yMusic (Alex Sopp, flutes/voice; Hideaki Aomori, clarinets; CJ Camerieri, trumpet/horn; Rob Moose, violin; Nadia Sirota, viola; Gabriel Cabezas, cello) is dedicated to delivering emotionally resonant music that transcends genres. Now in its 16th season, yMusic excels on both classical and popular fronts, maintaining rigor, virtuosity and style, and lending its distinctive sound to projects by artists like Andrew Norman, Anohni, Missy Mazzoli and Paul Simon. Together, Hornsby and yMusic are called BrhyM.

SARAH HICKS | CONDUCTOR 

Sarah Hicks' versatile and vibrant musicianship has secured her place as an in-demand conductor across an array of genres, and as an educator, arranger, producer, writer and speaker committed to creating connections through music. Her career has seen collaborations with artists ranging from Hilary Hahn and Dmitiri Hvorostovsky to Jennifer Hudson and Smokey Robinson. Her passion for cross-genre partnerships led to a 2019 album with rap artist Dessa and the Minnesota Orchestra, with whom she holds a titled position, and she has been nominated for two Upper Midwest Emmys. A specialist in film music and the film in concert genre, she creates concert experiences that combine sight and sound, and her premieres include “Pixar in Concert” and Disney-Pixar’s Coco; she can also be seen in “A Celebration of the Music from Coco” on Disney+. A highly sought-after guest conductor, Hicks has worked with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Boston Pops, Toronto Symphony, Melbourne Symphony, Czech National Symphony Orchestra, St. Petersburg Philharmonic and Tokyo Philharmonic, among others.

SEATTLE SYMPHONY
