SEATTLE SYMPHONY MEDIA RELEASES TWO NEW RECORDINGS ON JUNE 10

Live Recording of Stravinsky’s Petrushka, and Debussy’s La boîte à joujoux, with Music Director Ludovic Morlot

Live Recording of Mahler Symphony No. 10 with Principal Guest Conductor Thomas Dausgaard

Both Releases Now Available for Pre-sale on iTunes and Amazon

Seattle, WA – Seattle Symphony releases two new recordings on the Seattle Symphony Media label on June 10. The first release features Music Director Ludovic Morlot as he brings to life two pieces that celebrate children’s play — a scintillating live recording of Stravinsky’s much-loved Petrushka and studio recording of Debussy’s rarely recorded La boîte à joujoux (“The Toy Box”). The Stravinsky recording is part of the Symphony’s ongoing live performance recording series of orchestral works by the composer, following The Rite of Spring released in 2014 and an upcoming release of The Firebird scheduled for later this year.

Also to be released is a recording of the unforgettable live performances of Mahler’s Symphony No. 10 (Deryck Cooke final version) during the 2015–2016 Delta Air Lines Masterworks Season, with the Symphony performing under Principal Guest Conductor Thomas Dausgaard. Of the performance, The Seattle Times wrote, “It was impossible to be in the house and not realize that something rare and significant had taken place.”

Both releases are now available for pre-sale on iTunes and Amazon. To obtain physical or digital review copies of either release, or other information on Seattle Symphony Media, please contact You You Xia at youyou.xia@seattlesymphony.org.

ABOUT LUDOVIC MORLOT:

French conductor Ludovic Morlot is in his fifth season as Music Director of the Seattle Symphony. There have been many highlights during his first four seasons in this position, including an exhilarating performance at Carnegie Hall in May 2014, as reported in The New York Times: “The performance Mr. Morlot coaxed from his players was rich with shimmering colors and tremulous energy.”

During the 2015–2016 season he leads the Seattle Symphony in a wide variety of works including the launch of a two-year cycle of Beethoven symphonies and piano concertos; Berio's Sinfonia featuring vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth; Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 4; Mahler’s Symphony No. 1; and Fauré’s Requiem. Complemented by the Seattle Symphony’s highly innovative series, Untuxed and [untitled], this season will also see the release of several more recordings on the Orchestra’s label, Seattle Symphony Media.

Morlot was also Chief Conductor of La Monnaie, one of Europe’s most prestigious opera houses, for three years (2012–2014).
